About me

< jaanapreuner >

Nice to meet you! đź‘‹đźŹ» I’m Jaana, originally from Finland but have lived abroad for over 10 years. Hopefully, I can help you with your website, or maybe you’re just curious about who’s behind this one. Either way, let’s dive in.

Brief history

For many years, I searched for answers to the question: What do I want to do when I grow up? At the age of 16, I left home and began living in different countries as a nomad—or at least, that’s how I identified myself.

During my nomadic years, I gained experience in multiple industries and met people from all over the world. I love challenges and new projects, but instead of booking a one-way ticket to a new country, as I once did, I have settled in Scotland. Now, I travel to different places by creating websites and exploring various topics.

A piece of cake

I created my first WordPress website in 2007 but quickly switched to the Blogger platform because, as you may know, WordPress isn’t always the easiest platform for building sites. However, I returned to WordPress once I understood the opportunities with plugins and codes. Now, I focus on making the most of the platform while keeping websites simple, functional, and user-friendly.

Having a website isn’t just about setting it up and adding content—it also involves optimizing for performance, SEO, and security. I’ve spent countless hours learning and understanding the system by testing, failing, and testing again. It wasn’t easy, but one day, I cracked it. To celebrate, I had a coffee with an actual piece of cake (we call this kakkukahvit in Finland).

Less is more

In today’s digital world, we have endless possibilities, but I often see websites that overwhelm visitors with too many unnecessary features. This cluttered approach can make the site feel messy and ruin the user experience.

When designing a website, I always consider the visitor’s perspective and their journey, especially since mobile usage is so common today.

One of the most frequent mistakes I see is the overuse of different text styles, sizes, and colors. My advice? Stick to a couple of styles and be consistent.
